First graders use Chrome music lab rhythm maker to recreate simple rhythm patterns on the application. Students work in pairs. One partner claps the simple rhythm of 3, 4, 5, or 6 beats. Students have to identify how many beats they clapped, move to the correct screen that has that many beats on the application and then recreate the rhythm using the app. Students get to hear whether they clapped the rhythm correctly and can check each others work. It’s a great way to give students lots of exposure in a shorter amount of time than using whole group instruction.
